Essilor Stellest 2.0 Lenses: A Smarter Approach to Myopia Management for Children

Helping children see clearly today while supporting healthier visual development for tomorrow.

Myopia, or short-sightedness, is becoming increasingly common among children. As children spend more time on near-work activities and digital devices, parents are understandably looking for better ways to manage the progression of myopia—not simply correct their child’s vision.

At Rama Vision, we believe that children’s eyewear should go beyond clear vision. It should also consider their long-term visual needs.

Introducing Essilor Stellest 2.0 Lenses

Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses, powered by H.A.L.T. MAX™ technology, are designed specifically for myopia management in children.

Unlike conventional single-vision lenses, which primarily correct the child’s central vision, Stellest 2.0 lenses are designed to both provide clear vision and influence the visual signals associated with eye growth.

How does H.A.L.T. MAX™ technology work?

H.A.L.T. MAX™ technology uses a specially designed lenslet structure with increased power and asphericity.

According to Essilor’s clinical data, this design creates a volume of non-focused light positioned further from the retina. The aim is to provide a signal that can help slow excessive axial elongation—the increase in the length of the eye associated with myopia progression.

What does the clinical data show?

In the clinical study presented by Essilor, children wearing Stellest 2.0 lenses experienced significantly slower axial eye growth compared with children wearing single-vision lenses.

The material indicates that, over the study period, myopic children wearing Stellest 2.0 lenses had 1.88 times slower eye growth compared with those wearing Essilor Stellest lenses with earlier H.A.L.T. technology.

In simple terms, the reported results suggest that eye growth was close to half that observed with the previous-generation H.A.L.T. technology.

Essilor also reports that Stellest 2.0 lenses are designed for children as young as 6 years old for myopia management.

Why early myopia management matters

Myopia is not just about needing stronger spectacles every year.

As myopia progresses, the eye can become increasingly elongated. Higher levels of myopia can be associated with a greater lifetime risk of certain eye conditions.

This is why identifying myopia early and monitoring its progression is important.

A comprehensive myopia-management approach may include:

  • Regular eye examinations
  • Monitoring changes in prescription
  • Measuring and monitoring eye growth where appropriate
  • Appropriate outdoor activity
  • Managing prolonged near-work and screen habits
  • Considering specialised myopia-management lenses when clinically suitable

Is Stellest 2.0 right for every child?

Not necessarily.

Every child’s eyes, prescription, lifestyle and rate of myopia progression are different. A qualified eye-care professional should assess the child’s visual needs and determine whether a myopia-management solution is appropriate.

At Rama Vision, our approach starts with understanding the child’s vision—not simply selecting a lens.

We assess the prescription, discuss the child’s visual habits and lifestyle, and explain the available options so parents can make an informed decision.

Clear vision today. Smarter myopia management for tomorrow.

Children’s eyes are constantly developing. When myopia is progressing, simply changing the spectacle power may not address the bigger picture.

With innovations such as Essilor Stellest 2.0 lenses powered by H.A.L.T. MAX™ technology, parents now have access to advanced lens technology specifically designed for myopia management.

At Rama Vision, we are committed to bringing families access to the latest advancements in eye care while ensuring that every recommendation is personalised to the child’s needs.

If your child’s spectacle power is increasing regularly, don’t wait for the next prescription change. Schedule a comprehensive eye examination and discuss myopia-management options with our eye-care team.
